Overview

The engineering manager will optimize and improve equipment processes, engineering, infrastructure, and new model control.

Responsibilities

  • Support / Manage / Create Company Vision, Business plan direction
  • Managing, Evaluating Company Monthly Reports
  • Improving, Approving policy issues
  • Manage equipment/production line improvement activities
  • Develop process and manpower layouts for production lines and equipment
  • Update detailed drawings for equipment as components are modified
  • Develop short and long term equipment strategies and prepare budgets
  • Manage equipment maintenance concerns with Manufacturing Equipment Coordinator
  • Meet with manufacturing teams (i.e. Team Leader, Mfg. Coordinator, etc.) on a regular basis to review all maintenance and investment projects
  • Develop and Manage control plans to ensure compliance with overall business plan
  • Monitor project spending to ensure project stays within approved budget
  • Manage ideas for ways to improve capacity, additional equipment, manpower, lower cycle times and improved OEE
  • Develop expense budget for equipment modifications, improvements and maintenance
  • Develop investment budget for all new activities
  • Identify equipment downtime issues, which affect the assembly line to meet daily production
  • Coordinate all engineering changes that occur
  • Manage all engineering, new model, and maintenance activities
  • Manage scheduling for weekend and shutdown activities
  • Participate in communication of plant activities
  • Coordinate contractors for plant or equipment activities
  • Facilitate open communication within and between departments
  • Maintain a safe working environment and enforce safety polices

Qualifications

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 5 years experience or 10 years equivalent experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • 5 years minimum technical experience
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications; specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project

 

Preferred skills and experience:

  • ISO9000 or QS9000 Quality Systems Training
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to make sound decisions
