Overview

Develop manufacturing methods and provide support for launches of new model programs, quoting activity, continuous improvement of programs in production and service, along with special projects assigned from upper management. Manage overall plant continual improvement, preventive action, and corrective action activities to reduce/eliminate customer complaints, internal defects/PPMs, and waste. Develop and manage special programs as defined by assigned customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & continually improve APQP documents: Standards, Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, Work Station Layout, Work Instructions, Inspection Criteria, Master Parts and Boundary Samples.
  • Manage development of secondary equipment and fixtures.
  • Work with operations to create a safe and efficient work space.
  • Develop packaging and related documents for new programs.
  • Complete documentation, equipment on time per customer and internal timelines.
  • Manage new model development trials.
  • Manage assigned customer portals as it relates to engineering, APQP, PPAP and quality and delivery performance.
  • Prepare and submit customer approval documentation (PPAP, NMR, etc.).
  • Continual improvement of Quality/Delivery metrics of assigned customers.
  • Manage corrective action / continual improvement activity for assigned customers thru strong leadership / development of multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  • Serve as corrective action champion or team member.
  • Continually improve relationship and FPE’s position with customers and suppliers thru direct interface and strong leadership.
  • Drive continual improvements to eliminate waste.
  • Champion programs such as Corrective Actions, Layered Process Audits, QSB, etc.
  • On-time submission of customer documentation, corrective actions.
  • On-time completion of corrective actions.
  • Travel locally and internationally to interface with suppliers and customers.

 

Decision Making Authority

  • Contact suppliers to correct concerns with the supply chain.
  • Contact customer regarding new model and mass production manufacturing issues.
  • Contain/recall product and/or suspend production if an out of order condition exists.

 

Qualifications

Required Competencies, Skills and Experience

  • Basic understanding of engineering concepts.
  • Computer skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and possess good time management tools.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel.
  • Good communication skills.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Project.
  • Basic skills with CAD or other modeling software.
  • Understanding of AIAG processes: APQP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, etc.
  • Knowledge of GD&T / CMM.
  • Problem Solving Skills

 

Education and Job Experience Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of quality concepts, statistical analysis, plastic materials, processing and tooling.
  • Two to four years of manufacturing experience and knowledge.
  • Two or four year degree, preferred

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to bend, twists, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work overtime and do minimal travel on short notice
  • Use of computers, small hand tools, gages, testing devices and chemical tests.
