Overview

The Plant Controller is a strategic member of the plant leadership team and provides the Plant Manager and operations team with data, analysis, and guidance to improve plant operational and financial performance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains standard product costing including material cost, labor rates, fixed and variable overhead rates; analyzes, understands, and communicates variances; works with extended team to recommend solutions and resolve variances
  • Coordinates and leads annual budget cycle for location using provided tools and templates; prepares files for consolidation and completes year-over-year analysis and reporting
  • Updates financial forecasts on a weekly or monthly basis
  • Completes month-end activities as needed; provides files and data needed for consolidation; prepares and presents monthly report package
  • Ensures the integrity of the plant balance sheet at all times; completes or directs account reconciliations as needed
  • Leads, mentors, and supports plant accounting team and others as needed
  • Provides project-based support and ad-hoc reporting as required by local and corporate leadership teams
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls and corporate policies/procedures in order to provide consistent financial reporting and to protect company assets
  • Provides support as needed for both internal and external audit
  • Supports payroll processes as needed
  • Completes all others tasks as assigned

 

Decision Making Authority

 

  • Manages, directs, and audits all functions of the Accounting department.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and proven experience with product costing, standard costs, and variance analysis
  • Thorough and relevant knowledge of manufacturing operations, ideally in the automotive industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable presenting financial and operational data in individual and group settings
  • Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Good working knowledge of local and state tax regulations
  • Strong ERP knowledge and skills; proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be self-directed
