Management of the materials department oversees the procurements of materials, production scheduling, shipping and receiving of product. Manages inventory of raw materials, components, WIP and finished goods. A Materials Manager manages the Materials department associates


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Manage all materials functions, including scheduling, material flow, logistics and customer interaction

·         Manages people designated to the Materials Department

·         Ensure that systems are properly utilized, and make recommendations for potential improvements

·         Manage inventory levels to meet delivery needs and internal goals

·         Ensure accuracy of all inventory records

·         Ensures compliance to TS/ISO/Company policies

·         Manage the dunnage and packaging needs for customer delivery

·         Provide support and input on logistics and delivery issues with customers and suppliers

·         Provide leadership in continuous improvement efforts

·         Maintain FIFO inventory practices

·         Develop Yearly Business Plan for the Materials Department

·         Lead, support and involve the Materials department in achieving business plan goals

·         Maintain a safe working environment and enforce safety polices

·         Facilitate open communication within and between departments

·         Other duties as assigned

·         Must attend all required meetings


Decision Making Authority

·         Contact customers shipping issues

·         Contact suppliers regarding delivery, quality and price issues

·         Approve or reject company purchases within allotted dollar amounts

·         Provide input on hiring, evaluation, promotion, disciple and termination



Preferred Qualifications for Hire or Promotion:

·         Must be a team player, capable of working well with others is a must

·         Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and manage time efficiently, strong organizational skills

·         Must have Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

·         Must have knowledge and ability to work in the Plex system comfortably and efficiently

·         Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong organizational skills

·         Self-starter with the ability to make sound decisions


Education and Job Experience Requirements

·         Bachelor’s degree in Business with 5-7 years’ experience in materials management including purchasing, production control, inventory control and logistics preferred or equivalent experience.

·         Must have supervisory experience
