The Tool Room Manager directs and coordinates, through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with production of injection molds, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment. In addition the person must assure that the documented quality policy regarding all “new-build” and repairs are carried out completely. 


  • Manage day to day activities and labor base for a 3 shift Mold Build department, which includes distributing assignments, coordinating work activity between shifts, maintaining appropriate off-shift staffing requirements, processing personnel payroll, and keeping customers satisfied by meeting delivery dates, financial targets, and quality metrics.
  • Track, monitor, and implement corrective measures for Tool Room performance in delivery, cost, quality, and departmental efficiency.
  • Be an active contributor at all Design Reviews to share and drive improvements for ease of build/ fabrication and quality.
  • Review current mold build methods with the goal of developing continuous improvement plans and implementing them in the shop.
  • Maintain, assess condition, and recommend continuous improvement on Molds, and Tool Room equipment
  • Evaluate the performance of Tool Room personnel, and develop a plan for each person’s development.
  • Monitor and insure adherence to Tool Room ISO procedures
  • Liaison between the tool engineers, their requests, and the manufacturing floor.



  • Successful completion of trade school and/or apprenticeship program



  • Supervision experience in Fabrication of Plastic Injection Molds.(Required 5-10 years)
  • Mold Making experience. (Required)
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills. (Required)
  • Ability to interface with several different functional groups. (Required)
  • Excellent technical skills, with Master Cam software experience a plus. (Required)


Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit and use hands
  • Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds.
  • Sedentary, office environment; frequent exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, etc) and following good manufacturing practices.
