Overview

Career opportunity for an Industrial Engineer with a focus on Continuous Improvement. Provides support to manufacturing in producing product in the most cost effective and efficient ways possible.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work directly with manufacturing on workplace layouts, manning requirements, material flow and various other activities
  • Trains applicable associates in lean manufacturing
  • Responsible for auditing Bill of Materials and Routers to ensure their correctness
  • Assist in material flow procedures
  • Reduce labor costs through process improvement
  • Trains all applicable associates in 5S
  • Assists MIS department in computer support as needed
  • Reduce material costs/inventory levels and maintaining inventory accuracy
  • Assist maintenance department in establishing and maintaining MRO cage
  • Assist manufacturing in establishing teams and assist in the training relating to such
  • Reduce inventory loss of finished goods and purchased components
  • Annually trained to perform specific functions of Hazardous Waste management including:  Handling, storage, labeling, spill response and as applicable, Hazardous Waste Manifest management.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Decision Making Authority

Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Safety Requirements

Must observe and practice all safety regulations, up to and including wearing of personal protective equipment when necessary.

 

Preferred Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Training in statistics and math (especially algebra, geometry, and trigonometry) is strongly desired.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or related area of discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in an automotive environment is a plus to have in addition to exposure to project management.
  • Plastic Injection Molding preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Industrial or Process Engineering preferred. 

 

Other Qualifications

Must be able to work well with other associates and follow all company rules, regulations and company policies.  May be required to work overtime on a short notice. Must be familiar with computers with the ability to use Word, Excel, and other software packages.  Must have excellent communication and people skills.  Must be aware of customer requirements and expectations.  Must be able to prioritize tasks.
