  • Overview

    The Tooling Technician/Mold Makerworks with the production department on molding issues that affect quality and productivity.  Must work in a timely manner with minimal supervision to change inserts, make repairs, perform preventative maintenance, and aid in storage and inventory of tools.  The Tooling Technician reports directly to the Tooling Engineer. 


    • Complete repair work, insert changes, cleaning and preventative maintenance as related to molds and production tooling.
    • Perform in a timely and effective manner to minimize production downtime attributed to tooling problems.
    • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble all mold tools with minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to read mold drawings.
    • Required to consult and work with the Supervisor/Front Line Leader on tooling related process issues.
    • Keep records of work hours, completed repairs, and supplies/components used for the repair.
    • Responsible for completing any mold book related paperwork, keeping it accurate and up to date.
    • Must be able to safely operate all tool room equipment such as surface grinders, milling machines, EDM, and CNC milling machines.
    • Must follow current Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.
    • Access production requirements, produce equipment and fixtures to improve job efficiency with guidance from supervision.
    • Must be able to provide own tools.
    • Must maintain a safe and clean workplace.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    Technical, Vocational or Associate Degree in machining technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.  Must be able to read, write and speak English. Previous forklift experience required.


    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • While performing the duties of this Job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and is exposed to humid conditions and temperature extremes.
    • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
    • Manual dexterity required to operate equipment. The employee must occasionally climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
    • Position requires the abilities to walk, sit, stand, lift and carry up to 60 pounds; ability to hear, understand and convey verbal communications of and to other personnel.
