  • Overview

    Meet or surpass internal and external customer expectations.  achieve safety, delivery, and quality standards. Champion preventive and corrective action and continuous improvement to reduce defects, waste, cycle time, and labor. Support new model product teams including development of control plans, inspection instructions, measurement and testing plans in preparation of final PPAP submission.  Request, coordinate, investigate and correct dimensional data/reports in support of new model and mass production.  Support manufacturing in addressing internal and external quality, delivery and dimensional concerns.


    • Work with customers and management to quote programs and prepare and submit customer approval documentation (PPAP/Production Part Approval Process, NMR/New Model Revision, etc.)
    • Develop measurement and test plans based on drawing requirements, GD&T and EGI and Customer Engineering and Quality Specifications
    • Manage request, completion and analysis of product and process measurements and testing at different stages of production for adherence to specifications
    • Manage customer portals and on time submission of customer documentation and corrective actions
    • Develop and continually improve, using a problem-solving approach, Control Plans, Work Station Layouts, Work Instructions, Inspection Criteria, Master Parts, and Boundary Samples
    • Improve delivery, quality and waste by implementing corrective actions, layered process audits, internal audits, customer audits, Quality System Basics (QSB), etc.
    • Conduct, equipment time and motion studies and make recommendations with quality, safety, and within the limits of equipment capabilities; standardization
    • Lead proactive continual improvement efforts using multi-disciplinary teams
    • Interface with suppliers and customers, regular local travel and occasional international travel required
    • Must exemplify a positive, respectful and “can do” attitude not only for one’s self but for how it will affect other associates
    • All associates are accountable for their own work, purposed changes and solutions that increase their work performance and the company’s business results


    Required Competencies, Skills and Experience

    • Understanding of engineering and quality concepts, statistical analysis, plastic materials, processing and tooling
    • Interpretation of blueprints and schematics, with emphasis on GD&T.
    • Interpretation of metrology data reports and application of statistical methods to that data. Normality, GR&R, Capability Analysis, etc.
    • Root cause and lead countermeasure activity of measurement systems, processes and product based on data and statistical analysis
    • Proven project management skills: planning, prioritizing, multi-tasking and timely assignment completion.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment
    • Computer skills and use of Microsoft Office, project management, and propriety customer software
    • Six Sigma experience, a plus


    Decision Making Authority

    • Place parts on Hold when needed
    • Scrap parts when necessary
    • Develop measurement methods
    • Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status
    • Formulate sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instruction for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data
    • Contact customers and suppliers regarding root cause analysis and countermeasure activity


    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
    • 4 Years of college in quality, engineering or related field
    • Experience in automotive, injection molding of plastic or related field, a plus


    Work Environment and Physical & Mental Demands

    • Ability to work in non-climate controlled plant areas and climate controlled office areas
    • Ability to be exposed to noisy plant areas and forklift traffic and occasionally work from outside and work from heights
    • Ability to work flexible schedules and work overtime as needed and on short notice
    • Ability to walk on concrete floors, lift up to 55lbs
    • Perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis
    • Occasionally bend, kneel twist and reach
    • Possess near-vision
    • Ability to apply inductive and deductive reasoning
    • Ability to make decisions and take appropriate actions when it comes to the recall or suspension of a product
