  • Overview

    Develop manufacturing methods and provide support for programs in production and service for launches of new model programs.   Meet or surpass internal and external customer expectations.  Champion preventive and corrective action and continuous improvement to reduce defects, waste, cycle time, and labor. Also to achieve safety, delivery, and quality standards.  Supervise team of PSE’s and determine/analyze data to determine root cause of problems with parts. This position requires 5 or more years’ experience in processing of injection molding.  Knowledge of robot programming (i.e. whittman and AAC robots).  Knowledge of RJG.  Processing different materials, i.e. polypropylene, PCABS, PC, glass filled plastics.   Knowledge of processing on JSW, UBE, Negri-Bossie, Arburg, Engle and Millicom presses is a plus. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Manage assigned programs and new model trials, from inception to three years of production; manage development of secondary equipment and fixtures
    • Work with customers and management to quote programs and prepare and submit customer approval documentation (PPAP/Production Part Approval Process, NMR/New Model Revision, etc.)
    • Manage new model trials and develop packaging and related document for new programs, including testing products at different stages of production for adherence to specifications
    • Manage customer portals (APQP & NMR/New Model Review) and on time submission of customer documentation and corrective actions
    • Develop and continually improve Advanced Product Quality Planner (APQP) documents, the PFMEA problem-solving approach, Control Plan, Work Station Layout, Work Instructions, Inspection Criteria, Master Parts, and Boundary Samples
    • Improve delivery, quality and waste by implementing corrective actions, layered process audits, Quality System Basics (QSB), etc.
    • Conduct, equipment time and motion studies and make recommendations with quality, safety, and within the limits of equipment capabilities; standardization
    • Lead proactive continual improvement efforts through the use of multi-disciplinary teams
    • Interface with suppliers and customers, regular local travel and occasional international travel required
    • Must exemplify a positive, respectful and “can do” attitude not only for one’s self but for how it will affect other associates
    • All associates are accountable for their own work, purposed changes and solutions that increase their work performance and the company’s business results
    • Create a team mentality with PSE’s.
    • Help to develop core capabilities and knowledge of PSE’s.

     

    Qualifications

    Required Competencies, Skills and Experience

    • Understanding of engineering and quality concepts, statistical analysis, plastic materials, processing and tooling
    • Interpretation of blueprints, schematics, and statistical data
    • Proven project management skills: planning, prioritizing, multi-tasking and timely assignment completion.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment
    • Computer skills and use of Microsoft Office, project management, and propriety customer software
    • Six Sigma experience, a plus

     

     

     

    Decision Making Authority

    • Place parts on Hold when needed
    • Scrap parts when necessary
    • Develop manufacturing methods
    • Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status
    • Formulate sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instruction for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data
    • Experience with metrology, specifically coordinate measuring machines

     

    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
    • Technical degree related to Engineering
    • Experience in automotive or related field, a plus

     

    Work Environment and Physical & Mental Demands

    • Ability to work in non-climate controlled plant areas and climate controlled office areas
    • Ability to be exposed to noisy plant areas and forklift traffic and occasionally work from outside and work from heights
    • Ability to work flexible schedules and work overtime as needed and on short notice
    • Ability to walk on concrete floors, lift up to 55lbs
    • Perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis
    • Occasionally bend, kneel twist and reach
    • Possess near-vision
    • Ability to apply inductive and deductive reasoning
    • Ability to make decisions and take appropriate actions when it comes to the recall or suspension of a product
