  • Overview

    Responsible for performing duties related to changing molds in injection molding machines in a proper, timely, and safe manner.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    ·         Ability to perform mold changes utilizing overhead crane, mold cart, or forklift

    ·         Must be able to obtain license to drive forklift

    ·         Must verify schedule and install the proper mold, with the correct inserts if applicable

    ·         Has to be familiar with all types of injection machine controllers in use on the floor

    ·         Must understand and follow standard work practices including loading proper machine setup, ensure process water setup correctly, and mold clamped securely

    ·         Clean up after all mold changeovers and return removed mold to its proper location

    ·         Communicating all mold/machine issues or damage before installing/removing molds to shift supervisor or engineering department

    ·         Works on any other projects assigned by shift supervisor or Lead Processor

    ·         Maintain a safe and clean work area; maintain 5S standards

    ·         Clean and protect core and cavity against rust by coating with mold protect spray before removal

    ·         Must be able to work overtime on a short notice

    ·         Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable; attendance is crucial


    Decision Making Authority

    ·         Authority to shut down press or not set mold if feels  an unsafe condition exists; must notify supervisor


    Preferred Qualifications for Hire or Promotion

    ·         Proof of other professional vocational training

    ·         1-3 years associated experience in injection molding

    ·         Good hand eye coordination, mechanically inclined

    ·         Must be team player, capable of working well with others


    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    ·         High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred

    ·         Basic math, reading, and computer skills


    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    ·         The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

    ·         Ability to stand for long periods of time

    ·         The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. and occasionally may maneuver up to 50 lbs.

    ·         Specific visions abilities required by this job may include but not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

    ·         Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment for a minimum of 8-12 hours per day
