  • Overview

    The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the coordination of the Front Line Leads and Engineering to maintain a continuously running production floor. Also, they plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in the plant.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises and coordinates production activities of Front Line Leaders, Floor Support and Trainers in areas of responsibility
    • Maintains all production reporting (Scrap, Rework, Production) accurate; Ensures productivity remains in budget
    • Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods
    • Troubleshoots any process and equipment problems or concerns
    • Evaluate auxiliary equipment for new or past model programs
    • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow
    • Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
    • Confers with Plant Manager and Engineering concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
    • Interfaces with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes
    • Consults with Plant Manager and Engineering personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products
    • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, operating or production problems
    • Main point of contact for production quality issues
    • Must attend all required meetings and training when scheduled
    • Must maintain a safe and clean work area
    • Ensures all associates have a safe working environment
    • Participates in Corrective Action, Preventative Action, and Continuous Improvement activities
    • Provide input on hiring, evaluation, promotion, discipline and termination; Assures the administration of all production training
    • Must be able to work well with other associates and follow all company rules, regulations and policies
    • Must exemplify a positive, respectful and “can do” attitude not only for one’s self but for how it will affect other associates
    • All associates are accountable for their own work, purposed changes and solutions that increase their work performance and the company’s business results

    Decision Making Authority

    • Ability to shut down presses when needed
    • Will set goals that are measurable and hold teams/individuals accountable for achieving or exceeding these set goals
    • Submits a budget for assigned activities in accordance with the budget procedure
    • Provide input on hiring, evaluation, promotion, discipline and termination
    • Makes corrective actions to maintain budget and maximum production
    • Authorizes overtime as necessary
    • Approver expenditures that are within authorized limits

    Qualifications

    • Must be familiar with synchronous manufacturing
    • Have injection molding and painting experience
    • Proven team leadership skills
    • Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and manage time efficiently, strong organizational skills
    • Must have Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Must have knowledge and ability to work in the Plex system comfortably and efficiently
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong knowledge of injection molding, tooling, materials and processes
    • Self-starter with the ability to make sound decisions

     

    Required Education/Qualifications for Hire or Promotion

    • Bachelors in Engineering or Business discipline/equivalent experience
    • 2 or more years of supervisory/process engineering experience

     

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Practice proper use of personal protective equipment, including the wearing of safety glasses
    • Ability to climb stairs
    • Ability to sit, stand or stoop for long periods of time
    • Ability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted
