  • Overview

    Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of production activities of the injection molding department.  Must achieve production and fiscal objectives; including plant safety, customer relations, continuous improvement, problem resolution, and manpower development.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and practices throughout the manufacturing operation
    • Manages Front Line Leaders and Process Engineer
    • Manages daily operations and troubleshooting
    • Ensures that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined, met and understood.
    • Trains subordinates, as necessary, assists with orientation and on the job training for subordinates
    • Over sees operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements and capital needs
    • Provides leadership in continual improvement efforts
    • Acts as a positive liaison with Company associates
    • Recommends enhancement and placement of plant equipment and facilities
    • Reviews and analyzes production, scrap and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity to product specifications and operation and/or production problems, to meet or exceed quoted expectations
    • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality
    • Works with scheduling to allow for planned maintenance and labor activities
    • Production reporting accuracy
    • Meet production and delivery schedules
    • Other duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications

    Decision Making Authority

    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
    • Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems within production
    • Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the plant. Participates in developing plant goals, objectives, and systems.

     

    Required Competencies, Skills and Experience

    • A record of continuous improvement of business procedures and process flows in accordance with TPS principles
    • A desire to strive toward developing self-directed work teams
    • Experience in strategic planning and a proven track record in leading multiple disciplines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills

     

    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College is preferred; however, Associates Degree with at least five years’ experience within an injection molding facility or medical device facility or in a Technical position would also qualify. 

     

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • The position requires the ability to work in non-climate controlled plant areas and climate controlled office areas.
    • This position is exposed to noisy plant areas, and forklift traffic.
    • This position requires the ability to walk on concrete floors, lift up to 30 pounds, perform repetitive keystrokes on a continual basis, and occasionally bend, kneel, twist, and reach.
