  • Overview

    This position is responsible for the production of quality product on specific value stream and shifts which ensures timely delivery to customers. This position provides supervisory activities that support the MDI system for Safety, Quality, Delivery Cost, Growth and HR metrics in production. This position is responsible for training and facilitating other production supervisors and to promote company policies in a consistent manner. Some production work may be required.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for coordinating communications between manufacturing and other disciplines, ie: material control, quality, plating, engineering, etc.
    • Achieving Facility safety goal for OSHA and overall incident rate and enforce PPE usage.
    • Consistently achieve assembly quoted rates and bars per hour goal across all three shifts
    • Responsible for and ensuring that safety standards are enforced on all manufacturing shifts.
    • Drive 5S in his or her areas and daily completion of the 5S check sheet.
    • Investigate, report and act upon any incidents or near misses.
    • Train/facilitate other supervisors, leads, and associates on overall Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Productivity, People Management and meeting customer schedules key job element.
    • Achieve quality RMA and scrap rate at or below targets.
    •  Ensure MDI scrap issues are rolled up properly
    • Ensure that all key processes are followed using lean tools (MDI, Kanban, Standard work, 5S, Kaizen, problem solving and visual management.
    • Actively lead implementation of continuous improvement processes
    • Motivate employees to be part of the continuous improvement process by asking “Why?” and “Is there a better way to do this?” and submitting their ideas.
    • Enforce Standard Work, including reviewing MDI production boards or hour by hour forms on an hourly basis. Ensure MDI charts are accurately updated in real time
    •  Understand and explain how TAKT time and standard work are derived.
    • Coach the team to identify waste in process, then actively lead to problem solve/root cause the issues quickly.
    •  Responsible for ensuring that manufacturing action plans are achieved and coordinating assistance where needed.
    •  Ensure the use of the Rapid Response System (RRS)/Escalation Process.
    • Achieve a smooth flow of production at TAKT time with a minimum of WIP
    • Responsible for the development Front Line Leaders
    • Works with the Plant Manager to assess performance and outline development plans for Front Line Leaders.
    • Responsible for communicating operating procedures and ensuring compliance across all manufacturing shifts
    • Responsible for ensuring that productivity goals are achieved on all manufacturing shifts and that obstacles to achieve plan are communicated during operations planning meetings
    • Motivate employees by setting clear expectations and work direction through effective communication
    • Work with HR to address disciplinary matters of associates
    • Responsible for monitoring manufacturing performance on all three shifts and working with Front Line Leaders to develop action plans for improvement.
    •  Identify and act on resolving material shortages/overages to be able to meet customer demand.

    • This is a B-shift position

     

    Education and Job Experience Requirements

    ·         High School Diploma or GED equivalent

    ·         Three years in production supervisory experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
